Cycling until Paradise
The chapel of Madonna del Ghisallo, above Bellagio (lake Como) is the peak or the arrival of many Italian cycling races: Giro di Lombardia, Coppa Agostoni and, of course, “Il Giro”.
Named after a middle-age apparition of the Virgin Mary, it became the patron saint of riders and bikers. A “hard to reach” sacred place where a Museum and a statue celebrate the history, the drama and the beauty of this sport. So heroic and so ordinary and the same time. Climbing to Madonna del Ghisallo can be difficult but largerly rewarded by breathtaking views. The hills becomes mountains, the view embraces the sky and the lake and the silence invites to visit the Museum. Here bikes, jerseys, photos, info screen and a movie theatre tell the story of this epic sport. Yesterday and today.
